302 timing cover gasket10/13/2023 ![]() I understand how the tabs on the gaskets link/overlap into each other, but i dont understand how i can put the cover on, and have the gaskets overlap each other wihout pulling the oil pan off. FORD > 1988 > MUSTANG > 5.0L 302cid V8 > Engine > Timing Cover Gasket. ![]() (Hopefully the way I'm wording this makes sense to someone) I can't seem to get these two seals at the front of the oil pan to interlink properly while putting the timing cover on, without taking the oil pan off as well, but I feel like there must be a way to do this.īasically, the question is, can I reinstall the timing cover without removing the oil pan? If so, please describe how to set up the two gaskets in between the bottom of the timing cover, and the front of the oil pan properly before putting the cover on.Please be as detailed as possible, because I'm clueless at the moment. The cork part of the oil pan gasket, which seals along the sides of the oil pan, appears to have tabs on it which interlink with the rubber half-circle portion of the oil pan seal, which goes around the area underneath the crankshaft. 65 Convertible, 302, Front Disk, Red Exterior, Black Interior. I got it off fine and went to reinstall it, and noticed an issue with the seals along the bottom of the timing cover, where it meets the oil pan. The kit I bought included Distributor, Fuel Pump, Intake, Oil Pan, Thermostat, Timing Chain Housing, Valve Covers and Water Pump.
